Two days ago my uncle died. Not that it came out of the blue but a close relative dying has a different impact on me than tsunami warnings in the south pacific… Two years ago he experienced an apoplexia from which he never really recovered. He spoke 7 languages including russian, french, german. Him appearing to be a “solitary man” I managed to cope well with him. We both used to sit in front of the telly late at night watching old french movies with Trinignant, Delon, Ventura etc. I remember him shouting at the TV as if the proponents could hear him: “Watch your back … he’s behind you … you idiot!” and so on.He supported my love for photography by buying me my first SLR (a Minolta with 2 separate lenses) when I was 16. So he made my semi-professional ‘hobby’ possible … 26 years ago.For him being not very religious I hope that (wherever he might be right now) he found what he was looking for … or got some new clues. Requiescat in pace – memento Franz Sigut.
